BPA finishes strong Perfect Game summer

It took an extra-inning, walk-off defeat to dispatch BPA from the Perfect Game 17U World Series, but that is how BPA’s summer slate of PG tournaments ended.

Playing in Scottsdale, Ariz., BPA lost to eventual tournament champions Canes National, 5-4, in seven innings, on July 28. Participating in the invite-only, 32-team affair, BPA went 1-1-1 in pool play, highlighted by an 11-2 victory over Team California. BPA concluded the tournament with a 3-3 tie against CBA Marucci National.

Although a winning record escaped BPA in the desert, it was a strong summer for BPA on the PG circuit. BPA finished the summer as the only California-based program to win a pool and reach bracket play in Perfect Game’s 15, 16 and 17U World Wood Bat Association National Championships.

Halpin and Jones ready for Area Code Games

The most prominent scouting event for 2020 MLB Draft prospects will have BPA representation.

The annual, invite-only Area Code Baseball Games, held at Long Beach’s Blair Field, will have Jones on the Southern California-comprised Brewers roster, with fellow BPA 2020 standout Petey Halpin on Northern California’s Athletics roster. With games running Aug. 5-9, the Area Code Games are made up of eight geographically-based rosters.
